Trump Reopens Strait Of Hormuz By Lifting His Own Naval Blockade, Resolving Long-Standing Concern That The War He Helped Wage Was Still Strangling The Global Oil Supply

"Simultaneously herewith," Trump said, he had authorized "the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade," restoring to global commerce a passage that global commerce had enjoyed without interruption until early this year. He noted that nobody had believed the strait could be reopened, omitting that it had been open until his administration closed it.

Markets responded with relief, as U.S. crude fell more than 4 percent to roughly 80 dollars a barrel within hours, returning the price of oil to approximately where it had stood before the war the deal was ending.
