Trump Hosts Private Gala For 220 Largest Holders Of His Personal Cryptocurrency, Resolving Long-Standing Concern That Foreign Nationals Lacked Direct Channel For Anonymously Paying The Sitting President

The Filing

STERLING, Va. President Donald J. Trump on Thursday evening welcomed the 220 largest holders of his personal $TRUMP memecoin to a private gala at his namesake golf club here, the highest-profile installment in an ongoing effort to make the relationship between the cryptocurrency Mr. Trump had launched seventy-two hours before his inauguration and the executive branch he subsequently took control of as direct as administratively possible.

Attendees, who had qualified for the invitation by holding sufficient quantities of the $TRUMP token over a defined twenty-five day "leaderboard" period, were escorted to the clubhouse for cocktails and dinner. The top twenty-five holders on the leaderboard received a smaller, more exclusive VIP reception, at which Mr. Trump posed for individual photographs and delivered brief remarks. The White House did not release the names of attendees, citing the President's preference for handling guest lists internally.

Reporters attempting to confirm arrivals from a public access road outside the club were directed by Secret Service personnel to a parking area approximately one mile away. Public on-chain analysis subsequently identified the upper tier of the leaderboard as including foreign nationals from at least a dozen countries, wallets associated with entities under active U.S. regulatory scrutiny, and a number of crypto industry figures whose pending federal matters had recently moved toward favorable resolution.

"This is just the President meeting with supporters," said one senior administration official, asked to respond to criticism that the gathering represented the most direct mechanism for foreign payment to a sitting American president in modern history. "He likes to thank people who have been helpful to him." Asked whether "helpful to him" was distinguishable in this context from "helpful to the country," the official replied that the question reflected a category distinction the administration did not find useful.

The dinner capped a roughly four-month period during which the $TRUMP token, the affiliated $MELANIA token, the Trump-family-aligned World Liberty Financial venture, and a related stablecoin had collectively absorbed several hundred million dollars in foreign investment, including a publicly announced two-billion-dollar commitment from an Emirati-backed firm directed at the family's stablecoin. The Office of Government Ethics, formerly tasked with reviewing precisely this category of arrangement, was effectively gutted by executive order in January and has been unable to comment.

At press time, a sitting member of Congress asked whether the dinner constituted an emolument under any reasonable reading of the Constitution had confirmed that it most certainly did, and then asked the reporter what, exactly, anyone expected him to do about it.
